Pedestrian Dies after Hit by SUV on Barham Drive in San Marcos

 
SAN MARCOS, CA (May 16, 2022) – A woman died in a pedestrian accident at Barham Drive and Mission Road in San Marcos on Friday evening, May 13.
 
The accident happened around 8:20 p.m., just west of Nordahl Road and south of Highway 78. According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, the woman stepped off a curb and into the path of an SUV.
 
The driver was unable to stop in time and struck the female pedestrian.
 
As a result, the woman suffered major head and body trauma. Paramedics rushed her to a hospital, where she later died.
 
Deputies evaluated the driver of the SUV, but determined he was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Speed also did not appear to be a factor.
 
An investigation into this fatal accident is underway.
