Pedestrian Dies after Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver on Western Avenue in South LA

 
SOUTH LOS ANGELES, CA (May 22, 2023) – A woman was killed in a hit-and-run crash on Western Avenue in South Los Angeles Friday evening on May 19.
 
The fatal crash happened around 10:10 p.m. near 43rd Street. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the 48-year-old woman was walking east in the crosswalk on Western Avenue when a vehicle struck her. The impact knocked her to the ground.
 
The driver momentarily stopped but then fled the scene northbound of Western Avenue.
 
Firefighter paramedics rushed the victim to a hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
 
Police described the involved vehicle as a gold Toyota with a California license plate.
 
A reward of up to $50,000 is available to the individuals with information leading to the identification, arrest and conviction of the hit-and-run suspect.
