Pedestrian in Her 50s Dies after Struck by Hit-and-Run Vehicle at Belmont and Echo Avenues

 
FRESNO, CA (October 17, 2022) – A woman was killed in a hit-and-run crash at Belmont Avenue and Echo Avenue in central Fresno early Saturday morning.
 
The fatal crash happened around 12:45 a.m. on October 15. Police said they received a call from a man who said he hit a person with his car.
 
When officers arrived, they found the female pedestrian, believed in her 50’s, lying in the roadway. The victim suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.
 
The driver remained on scene and cooperated with police.
 
During the preliminary investigation, detectives found evidence that another car had hit the woman in the intersection prior to that collision.
 
Neither drugs nor alcohol are believed to be involved on the part of the driver at this time.
 
The Fresno Police Department is handling the investigation.
