Woman Dies after Speeding Driver Runs Red Light and Crashes Her Car on Barranca Parkway in Tustin

 
TUSTIN, CA (June 6, 2023) – A woman was killed in a high-speed crash on Barranca Parkway in Tustin late Sunday afternoon.
 
The fatal crash happened around 5:15 p.m. at the intersection of Tustin Ranch Road. According to the Tustin Police Department, a 25-year-old Santa Ana man was driving westbound on Barranca Parkway at 80 miles per hour when he ran a red light. He then struck the victim’s vehicle at the intersection.
 
The impact of the initial crash involved at least three more vehicles.
 
Paramedics rushed both the woman and the suspect to a hospital in critical condition.
 
Sadly, the woman did not survive and was declared dead. She was a 67-year-old Irvine resident. Her name was withheld pending next of kin notification.
 
Alcohol and speed were both factors in the crash, police said. Further investigation is underway.
