Passenger Dies in Head-On Crash on North Indian Canyon Drive in Desert Hot Springs
DESERT HOT SPRINGS, CA (July 25, 2021) – A 27-year-old woman died in a head-on accident on North Indian Canyon Drive in Desert Hot Springs Thursday night, July 22.
The accident happened just before 6:00 p.m. near Mission Lakes Boulevard. According to the Desert Hot Springs Police Department, a Kia Rio was traveling eastbound when it went off the roadway for unknown reasons. The driver tried to correct the course, but entered the opposing lanes of traffic and collided head-on with a pickup truck.
As a result, the female passenger of the Kia died at the scene. The driver, a 28-year-old man, sustained unspecified injuries and was taken to an area hospital.
Meanwhile, the driver of the pickup complained of pain and was evaluated at the scene by first responders.
Crews closed a stretch of North Indian Canyon Drive for more than five hours while they worked on the scene.
This fatal crash remains under investigation.
