Pickup Truck Catches Fire after Crash with Semi Truck on Highway 138 in Cajon Pass Killing One Passenger

 
CAJON PASS, CA (April 24, 2023) – A woman was killed after a fiery accident on Highway 138 in the Cajon Pass early Friday morning on April 21.
 
The fatal accident happened shortly after 4:30 a.m., just about a mile after the Highway 138 exit on northbound 15 Freeway. According to the California Highway Patrol, a gray Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck hit the back end of a semi dump tractor-trailer full of sand. The impact caused the pickup truck to catch fire.
 
San Bernardino County Fire Department responded to the scene and found the female passenger in the pickup dead inside the burning vehicle.
 
The identity of the victim was not immediately available.
 
Meanwhile, the driver of the pickup sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The semi truck driver was unharmed.
 
CHP believe speed was a factor in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
