Driver with 3 Prior DUI Convictions Causes Deadly Crash near Hughes Lane in Bakersfield

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (February 12, 2024) – A woman died in a DUI crash near Hughes Lane and White Lane in Bakersfield late Friday evening.
 
The fatal crash happened around 11:08 p.m. on February 10. According to the Bakersfield Police Department, officers followed an SUV from a car meet they had been monitoring when they came upon the crash. The SUV struck a white sedan with three adults inside.
 
The female driver of the sedan suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. Her two female passengers were rushed to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.
 
Police said the man driving the SUV has three prior DUI convictions in the last six years. They booked him into Kern County jail on suspicion of homicide, DUI causing great bodily injury and DUI with three prior convictions.
 
An investigation is underway. Bakersfield police urged anyone with further information to contact them at 661-327-7111.
