Passenger Dies after DUI Driver Crashes Car on First Avenue in Downtown San Diego

 
SAN DIEGO, CA (February 7, 2023) – A woman was killed in a DUI crash on First Avenue in downtown San Diego early Monday morning on February 6.
 
The fatal crash happened a little after 3:00 a.m. in the 1200 block of First Avenue near B Street. According to the San Diego Police Department, a 2003 Toyota sedan was heading northbound at a speed that was unsafe for road conditions when it hit a guardrail abutment. The impact caused the car to roll over.
 
The 26-year-old woman sitting on the front passenger’s side was ejected upon impact and died at the scene. She not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
 
Meanwhile, the 24-year-old female driver was evaluated for DUI and arrested on suspicion of drunken driving.
 
Further investigation is underway.
