Bicyclist Dies after Struck by DUI Driver on Polk Avenue in Fresno

 
FRESNO, CA (February 28, 2024) – A woman was killed in a DUI bicycle crash at Polk Avenue and Fairmont Avenue in Fresno late Monday evening.
 
The fatal crash happened just after 10:00 p.m. on February 26. According to the Fresno Police Department, the woman was riding her bicycle northbound on Polk Avenue when she made an abrupt left turn in front of a small SUV.
 
The SUV then struck the woman, sending her onto the ground.
 
First responders attempted to perform life-saving measures, but the woman succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
 
Authorities only described the woman as someone in her 30s.
 
Meanwhile, the driver of the SUV stayed on scene and was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
 
An investigation into this fatality is ongoing.
