Red Light Runner Causes Deadly Fiery Crash on 9th Street in San Bernardino

 
SAN BERNARDINO, CA (July 31, 2021) – A woman died in a fiery accident at 9th Street and Del Rosa Drive in San Bernardino early Saturday morning.
 
The fatal accident happened around 12:12 a.m. on July 29. According to the Highland Police Department, 22-year-old Carlos Gomez was driving a Toyota Tacoma eastbound on 9th Street and failed to stop for a red light at the intersection with Del Rosa Drive.
 
Gomez then broadsided a Lexus sedan traveling northbound on Del Rosa. The impact caused the Lexus to catch fire.
 
The unidentified female driver of the Lexus was unable to get out of the vehicle. She died at the scene.
 
Gomez was transported to a local hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries.
 
It is unknown if drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash. An investigation is ongoing.
