Woman Dies when 50-Foot Boat Sinks Off Catalina Island near Isthmus Harbor

 
CATALINA ISLAND, CA (September 4, 2022) – A 65-year-old woman died in a boat accident near Isthmus Harbor early Saturday morning, September 3.
 
Around 4:03 a.m., lifeguards were dispatched to the area near Catalina Island, regarding a cabin cruiser taking on water. According to the Los Angeles County Fire Department, a 50-foot power vessel took on water and sank off the island.
 
Arriving lifeguards pulled out the dead woman from inside the vessel. The victim’s identity was not immediately available.
 
Paramedics transported one of three people pulled out of the water to a hospital in an unknown condition.
 
It is not immediately clear why the boat sank, but the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is investigating.
