Woman on Electric Scooter Suffers Serious Injuries after Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver on West 4th Street in Downtown LA

 
DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES, CA (October 29, 2021) – A woman on an electric scooter suffered serious injuries in a hit-and-run crash on West 4th Street in downtown Los Angeles on Wednesday afternoon.
 
The crash happened around 1:10 p.m. on October 27 just past South Main Street. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the woman was riding the rented scooter against traffic in the one-way eastbound lanes of West 4th Street. An eastbound 2020 Chevrolet Spark then struck her head-on.
 
The woman was launched into the air and landed head first on the sidewalk. The shirtless driver of the Chevrolet got out of the vehicle and fled the scene.
 
Paramedics rushed the woman to a hospital with serious injuries.
 
Investigators later determined the Spark that struck the woman was reported stolen out of the LAPD Wilshire Division area.
