NEWHALL, CA (May 19, 2022) — A woman was injured in a police chase accident on Walnut Street at Lyons Avenue on Wednesday.

According to the Santa Clarita Valley sheriff’s station, the incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. When deputies noticed a driver in a stolen car on Oak Ridge Drive in Newhall, deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop.

However, the driver fled and a brief pursuit unfolded. Due to unsafe speeds, officers terminated the chase.

Soon after, the suspect lost control of the vehicle and crashed into at least five cars on Walnut Street and Lyons Avenue. Subsequently, the suspect fled on foot and remains at large.

Following the incident, paramedics transported the suspect’s female passenger to a hospital for treatment of moderate injuries. No one else reported any other injuries.

At this time, authorities need the public’s help in identifying the suspect’s whereabouts. Thus, anyone with more information should call 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
