Police Arrest DUI Hit-and-Run Suspect after Striking Woman in Northeast Fresno

 
FRESNO, CA (October 24, 2023) – A woman was hurt and Miguel Noriega was arrested after a DUI hit-and-run crash in northeast Fresno Saturday night on October 21.
 
The crash happened around 6:00 p.m. during a pro-Palestine demonstration at Nees Avenue and Blackstone Avenue, just in front of P. F. Chang’s restaurant. According to the Fresno Police Department, the 62-year-old suspect was in a pickup truck when he got into an argument with a person on a bike, who was part of the demonstration.
 
Noriega claimed the cyclist attacked him as he drove away. That was when he ran into the woman who was standing in the parking lot.
 
Paramedics arrived soon after and took the woman to a hospital for treatment of an ankle injury.
 
Police determined that Noriega was potentially intoxicated. They arrested him on suspicion of DUI and hit-and-run.

They added that the cyclist could face a battery charge, but that remains under investigation.
