Woman Killed in Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Crash at Hammond Avenue in Fresno

 
FRESNO, CA (May 1, 2023) — A woman died in a hit-and-run pedestrian accident at Hammond Avenue and Mariposa Street.
 
According to Fresno Police officers, the deadly hit-and-run happened around 1:00 p.m. Friday. Under unclear circumstances, a driver struck a female in her 50s who was walking on the road.
 
Shortly after, paramedics responded and brought the victim to Community Regional Medical Center, where she passed away.
 
Following the crash, witnesses reportedly followed the suspect vehicle to a Rite Aid parking lot at Blackstone Avenue and Olive Avenue. There, they contacted the police, who subsequently arrested the suspect. However, an investigation into the suspect and the crash is underway.
