DUI Driver Leaves Pedestrian in Critical Condition after Striking Her on Tahquitz Canyon Way in Palm Springs

 
PALM SPRINGS, CA (February 6, 2023) – A woman was critically injured in a DUI crash at Tahquitz Canyon and Sunrise Way on Wednesday evening.
 
The crash happened around 8:30 p.m. on February 1. According to the Palm Springs Police Department, the 57-year-old woman was in a crosswalk when a vehicle struck her.
 
First responders found her unresponsive on the roadway. They rushed her to a hospital in critical condition.
 
The driver, 59-year-old Mark Blanchette of Palm Springs, remained at the scene. He showed signs of being under the influence. Police arrested him for DUI and booked him into the John Benoit Detention Center in Indio on $50,000 bail.
