William Bettega Struck and Killed by Christopher Bettega on Crawford Road in Covelo

 
COVELO, CA (September 14, 2021) – Officers confirmed that a vehicle struck and killed William Bettega on Crawford Road on September 4.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened near Henderson Road shortly after 1:30 AM.
 
Based on reports, the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center initially received a report on an assault and possible kidnapping in an unknown area. Initially, it identified cousins Christopher Bettega and William Bettega as the victims. Then, the Covelo Fire Department received a call about a male on the roadway.
 
Upon the officers’ arrival, they determined that a vehicle struck the victim. The Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office pronounced the man dead at the scene. They later identified him as William Bettega.
 
Later on, a deputy located a vehicle belonging to Christopher Bettega just east of Biggar Lane. Then, Sheriff’s detectives arrested Christopher Bettega for murder. In the end, officers booked him into the Mendocino County Jail.
