UPDATE: Steven Harvey, Humberto Arteaga Jr. III Dead in Wrong-Way Car Accident on 405 Freeway [Seal Beach, CA]

Driver Humberto Arteaga Jr. III and Passenger Steven Harvey Killed after Seal Beach Car Crash

 
SEAL BEACH, CA (February 24, 2022) — Two people died in a wrong-way car accident on 405 Freeway on Sunday, February 20.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash happened on the San Diego (405) Freeway just north of the San Gabriel River (605) Freeway around 1:30 a.m.
 
Police arrived to the scene of the crash involving seven vehicles, including two black Honda Civics which were believed to have collided as a result of the wrong way driving. One of the cars drove northbound in the southbound lanes. However, it is unclear which car traveled the wrong-way.
 
Police identified the victims as 21-year-old Humberto Arteaga Jr. III of La Puente and 30-year-old Steven Harvey of Midway City.
 
Officials identified Arteaga as the driver of a 2016 Honda Civic and Harvey as the passenger in a 2012 Honda Civic, according to the information provided by the CHP and coroner.
 
The 2012 Civic’s driver, a 28-year-old Rancho Palos Verdes resident, suffered major injuries. As a result, paramedics transported the victim to Long Beach Memorial Hospital.
 
Two people were evaluated for injuries at the scene, but chose not to be taken to a hospital.
