Boat Fire in Alamitos Bay Kills 2 and Injures 3 Others

 
LONG BEACH, CA (August 9, 2023) – Two women were killed in a fiery boat accident in Alamitos Bay Saturday afternoon on August 5.
 
Around 5:00 p.m., Long Beach firefighters responded near the 200 block of Marina Drive after the fire erupted around. Authorities said the boat was at a fueling dock.
 
When they arrived, they found five victims at the scene, two women in their 60s died at the scene.
 
Three other people, two men and a woman, had critical burn-related injuries.
 
Firefighters extinguished the blaze with help from the Orange County Fire Authority.
 
The boat was destroyed by the fire. Investigators are examining the charred vessel to determine what went wrong.
