Man and Woman Die after Struck by Vehicle on Elkhorn Boulevard in Sacramento

 
SACRAMENTO, CA (July 14, 2023) – Two pedestrians were killed in a DUI crash on Elkhorn Boulevard in Sacramento Tuesday evening on July 11.
 
The fatal crash happened just before 8:30 p.m. near Hillsdale Boulevard. According to the CHP, a man and a woman were walking on the south sidewalk of Elkhorn Boulevard when a 2003 Honda Civic made an unsafe turning movement to the right.
 
The Civic then traveled up onto the sidewalk and struck the victims.
 
Both victims suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office withheld their identities at this time.
 
The driver of the Civic, a 20-year-old woman from North Highlands, had minor injuries. She was under the influence at the time of the crash.
 
One passenger in the Civic, an 18-year-old man, was also injured. A second passenger was unharmed.

Police later arrested the driver and booked her into the Sacramento County Main Jail custody in lieu of $500,000 bail. She faces DUI charges and two counts of felony vehicular manslaughter. She will be arraigned in Sacramento Superior Court on Thursday.
