Teen Passenger Dies Four Days after Fourth of July Crash in Santa Maria

 
SANTA MARIA, CA (July 14, 2023) – Fidel Lopez died in a car accident in Santa Maria on the Fourth of July.
 
The fatal crash happened around 5:30 p.m. on July 4, at Donovan Road and Pepperwood Place. According to the Santa Maria Police Department, Lopez was a passenger in a vehicle that had crashed at the intersection while heading to work.
 
Paramedics rushed Lopez to Marian Medical Center with critical injuries.
 
Despite life-saving efforts at the hospital, Lopez did not survive and died on Saturday, July 8. He was 15 years old. He had only arrived in Santa Maria from Oaxaca, Mexico a few months ago.
 
Loved ones set up a GoFundMe page to cover Lopez’ funeral expenses.
