Small Plane Crash at Santa Monica Airport Kills Flight Instructor and Student

 
SANTA MONICA, CA (September 12, 2022) – Two people were killed in a plane crash at the Santa Monica Airport on Thursday afternoon.
 
The fatal crash happened just before 4:30 p.m. on September 8. According to the Santa Monica Fire Department, the Piper Sport plane was heading to the airport when it touched down. It made an abrupt upward maneuver and crashed.
 
Fire crews and paramedics responded and found the aircraft down on the tarmac.
 
The two people on board were both killed in the crash. They were the flight instructor and a student.
 
According to KCAL 9, the instructor worked at the Santa Monica-based flight school Santa Monica Flyers.
 
The National Transportation Safety Board and other agencies are handling the investigation.
