Man Dies when Car Crashes into Train on Palomares Street in Pomona

 
POMONA, CA (September 12, 2022) – A man died in a train accident on Palomares Street in Pomona early Sunday morning, September 11.
 
The accident happened shortly after 2:00 a.m. just north of 1st Street. According to the Pomona Police Department, the man was driving a sedan when he broadsided a moving Union Pacific Railroad train at a high rate of speed.
 
Responding firefighters used the jaws of life to extricate the man from his vehicle.
 
Despite life-saving measures, the man died at the scene. He was not yet identified.
 
It is unknown whether drugs and/or alcohol played a role in the crash. Union Pacific was cooperating with the investigation which shut down Palomares Street between First Street and Commercial Street.
