Fiery High-Speed Crash on Cottle Road in San Jose Kills Two Passengers

 
SAN JOSE, CA (January 30, 2023) – Two people died in a fiery accident on Cottle Road in South San Jose early Friday morning on January 27.
 
The fatal accident happened around 4:20 a.m. near the on-ramp to Blossom Hill Road. According to the San Jose Police Department, a 2018 Hyundai sedan carrying three people was traveling at a high rate of speed when it lost control. It then went off the roadway, hit a light pole and caught fire.
 
A male passenger died at the scene, while a female passenger died at a hospital.
 
The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office withheld the identities of the victims pending family notification.
 
The male teen driver of the sedan suffered non-life threatening injuries. Police later booked him into Santa Clara County Juvenile Hall on suspicion of two counts of vehicular manslaughter and one count of driving a stolen vehicle.
 
Police urged witnesses of the crash to contact the SJPD traffic investigations unit at 408-277-4654.
