MIRAMAR, CA (March 18, 2024) – Two passengers were killed in a DUI crash on 15 Freeway in Miramar early Saturday morning on March 16.

The fatal crash happened around 2:45 a.m. just north of Miramar Way. According to the California Highway Patrol, 25-year-old Esteban Coronado of Escondido was driving a Honda Civic north on the freeway when he rear-ended a Toyota 4-Runner, driven by 22-year-old Joseph Michael Martin of San Diego.

A Chevrolet Colorado, driven by a Sun City man, then struck the Honda.

As a result of the crash, two passengers in the Honda suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.

Police later determined that Coronado and Martin were both under the influence at the time of the crash. They arrested and booked them into San Diego County Jail.
