Police Arrest Wrong-Way Driver after Striking into Bus Stop on Ulloa Street Killing Three People

 
SAN FRANCISCO, CA (March 18, 2024) – Three people died when a wrong-way driver crashed into them at a bus stop at Ulloa Street and Lenox Way in San Francisco on Saturday afternoon.
 
The fatal crash happened around 12:13 p.m. on March 16, just outside the West Portal Branch Library. According to the San Francisco Police Department, four people were at the bus stop when the wrong-way driver struck the shelter.
 
Two people at the bus stop, an adult and a child, were pronounced dead at the scene.
 
Paramedics rushed the other two people to a hospital, where one of them also died on Sunday. Authorities only described the third victim as an adult woman.
 
The surviving patient, an infant, had life-threatening injuries.
 
Police identified the wrong-way driver as 78-year-old Mary Fong Lau of San Francisco. They arrested him and booked him into county jail on multiple felony charges, including vehicular manslaughter, reckless driving and driving the wrong way.
 
An investigation into this crash is ongoing. Police urged anyone with further information to contact them at 415-575-4444.
