2 Survive after Small Plane Crashes along Sky Canyon Drive near French Valley Airport

 
FRENCH VALLEY, CA (January 31, 2023) – Two people were injured in a plane crash on Sky Canyon Drive in French Valley Friday morning on January 27.
 
The crash happened around 8:30 a.m. near Borel Road, just southwest of French Valley Airport. According to the Federal Aviation Administration, the pilot of the Cessna 210N Centurion was attempting to make an emergency landing on Runway 36 for unknown reasons, but apparently did not have the power or altitude to extend his glidepath. The single-engine plane then went upside down into a gully near a creek.
 
Both the pilot and the passenger self-extricated from the wreckage. They were treated at the scene and transported to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.
 
The plane had reportedly originated from Long Beach, but no other details regarding the itinerary were available.
 
The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the cause of the crash.
