WEOTT, CA (September 27, 2021) — Two people were hurt in a head-on accident on Avenue of the Giants on Friday, September 24.
 
According to California Highway Patrol, the vehicles crashed head-on south of Burlington near Weott at around 1:40 p.m.
 
CHP Officer Jeremy Lozensky said one of the occupants of one of the cars fled on foot and left two injured people. One of the injured was trapped inside.
 
Lozensky stated that the two patients suffered moderate to major injuries in the collision.
 
Multiple CHP officers together with deputies from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Department searched for the suspect. They haven’t found the suspect as of 4:30 p.m. Friday
 
Officials closed the Avenue from about 2:25 p.m. to shortly before 4 p.m. to clear the roadway of debris.
