BYRON, CA (May 30, 2021) – Two people are now in critical condition following an accident in the 15500 block of Byron Highway on May 26.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened near Camino Diablo at approximately 4:00 AM.
 
Based on a report, two vehicles collided head-on in the lanes. Subsequently, the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District responded to the crash.
 
As a result, paramedics reported a total of 5 people who sustained injuries in the incident. Two of the victims had critical injuries. Crews requested a medical helicopter for the patients. In addition, reports showed there were two people with possible major injuries who fled.
 
Consequently, CHP shut down the roadways in both directions.
 
At this point, this accident on Byron Highway is still under investigation.
