GILROY, CA (March 24, 2022) — Two children suffered injuries in a pedestrian accident on Chestnut Street on Wednesday, March 23.
 
According to the Gilroy Police Department, police and fire officials responded to Chestnut Street and Old Gilroy Street at about 7:55 a.m.
 
Police arrived and discovered two kids hit by a car while walking to Eliot School. They said medics rushed the kids to a trauma center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
 
Authorities said the driver stopped and cooperated with officials. Drugs or alcohol was not a factor in the incident.
 
The elementary school staff arrived on the scene and assisted the students and families.
 
The police department reminded drivers to be careful, especially near schools.
