Early Morning Accident on East Valley Boulevard in Walnut Leaves 2 Children in Critical Condition

 
WALNUT, CA (May 17, 2022) – Two children were critically injured in an accident at East Valley Boulevard and North Grand Avenue in Walnut early Sunday morning.
 
The accident happened around 1:50 a.m. on May 8. According to the Los Angeles County Fire Department, two vehicles collided, one of them had careened into a fire hydrant. Video from the scene showed water spewing nearly 100 feet in the air from the sheared hydrant.
 
Fire crews responded and found four injured people in one of the vehicles, including two juveniles with critical injuries.
 
The two other occupants had minor injuries and are currently in stable condition.
 
Meanwhile, the driver of the other vehicle was the only occupant. He was identified as an adult male who was detained at the scene and treated for his injuries.
 
At this time, it is unclear if speed, drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
