Toddler Suffers Injuries in Santa Rosa Pedestrian Accident on Dutton Avenue

SANTA ROSA, CA (February 3, 2021) – A 2-year-old girl suffered serious injuries after a pedestrian accident Wednesday afternoon in Santa Rosa.

The accident happened on January 20 around 4:00 p.m. in the 800 block of North Dutton Avenue near Decker Street.

Police said the girl’s mother had just picked up the victim from daycare at a friend’s house. As the mother and daughter walked to their car, the girl pulled away from her mom and ran toward the street. A vehicle traveling north on Dutton Avenue then struck her.

As a result, the toddler suffered head injuries. Paramedics rushed her to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital and later to UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital in Oakland.

Meanwhile, the driver who hit the child stayed at the scene and cooperated with police.

It did not appear that speed or impairment of the driver was a factor in the collision, which remain under investigation.

When driving, always be mindful of pedestrians and children running on the street. Reduce your speed at intersections and pay attention to traffic lights and road signs. Avoid distractions and only drive when you are sober.
