Teen Dies in Fresno Two-Vehicle Crash on San Diego Avenue
FRESNO, CA (May 3, 2021) — A teen died in a two-vehicle accident on San Diego Avenue at Belmont Avenue Friday evening.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal crash occurred around 6:20 p.m. For unknown reasons, a 19-year-old driver, speeding south on San Diego Avenue, failed to stop at the intersection. As a result, his Chevrolet collided with the left side of an eastbound Freightliner that was hauling an empty 53-foot box trailer.
Due to the nature of the crash, the 19-year-old suffered major injuries and died moments later. Authorities have not released his name.
Meanwhile, the 55-year-old Freightliner driver avoided injury and stayed at the scene for police investigations.
