Driver Killed, Passenger Hurt in Car Accident on West Maple Avenue in Monrovia

MONROVIA, CA (June 6, 2024) – Two suspected package thieves became involved in a car accident on West Maple Avenue, early Wednesday morning.

According to the Arcadia Police Department, the incident happened on June 5, at about 4:35 a.m. Officers received a report of someone’s package being stolen in the 200 block of East Sycamore Avenue.

The package, which was equipped with a GPS tracking device, was later located in the 300 block of West Maple Avenue in Monrovia. Responders came upon a solo car accident and found the GPS-tracked package inside the vehicle. As per reports, they discovered additional mail that may have also been stolen.

Emergency crews pronounced the driver dead at the scene. Meanwhile, the passenger sustained moderate injuries and needed hospitalization. Authorities did not release their names.
