Police Arrest Hit-and-Run Suspect after Crashing into SLA Carnival Injuring 6 People

 
SOUTH LOS ANGELES, CA (November 14, 2022) – Police arrested Steven Weems for hit-and-run after he crashed through a street carnival in South Los Angeles Saturday night.
 
The crash happened around 8:00 p.m. on November 12 in the 3000 block of South Trinity Street. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the 23-year-old suspect from Mississippi was driving a white Porsche Cayenne when he crashed through the carnival, hitting at least six people.
 
After the crash, Weems fled the scene. The empty Porsche was found later a few blocks away.

Paramedics transported the victims, who are between 30 and 50 years old, to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police later arrested Weems for felony hit and run.

Weems was held on $50,000 bail. An investigation is ongoing.
