16-Year-Old Boy on Skateboard Dies after Struck by Car on Highway 79 in Warner Springs

 
WARNER SPRINGS, CA (August 1, 2023) – A skateboarder was hit and killed by a car on Highway 79 in Warner Springs Sunday evening on July 30.
 
The fatal crash happened around 8:05 p.m. near Peralta Drive. According to the California Highway Patrol, the teen was riding his skateboard northbound in a southbound lane of the highway when a Mitsubishi vehicle heading southbound near Peralta Drive struck him.
 
As a result, the teen suffered life-threatening injuries. Paramedics rushed him to Inland Valley Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.
 
The victim was a 16-year-old boy from Warner Springs.
 
The Mitsubishi’s driver, a 74-year-old man, and a 70-year-old female passenger were unharmed.
 
Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors in the crash. An investigation is still ongoing.
