Girl on Paddleboard Dies after Struck by Jet Ski at De Anza Cove

 
MISSION BAY, CA (July 31, 2023) – A 12-year-old girl was hit and killed by a jet ski while paddle boarding at De Anza Cove in Mission Bay Saturday afternoon.
 
The fatal accident happened just before 2:00 p.m. on July 29. According to the San Diego Police Department, an 18-year-old Bellflower man operating the Jet Ski struck the 12-year-old who was paddle boarding.
 
First responders rushed the girl to a hospital with significant injuries.
 
Despite life-saving efforts at the hospital, the girl was declared dead.
 
Alcohol is not believed to be a factor. SDPD’s Harbor Unit is handling the investigation.
