Two-Vehicle Crash in Florence-Firestone Area Leaves 1 Dead and 3 Others in Critical Condition

 
FLORENCE-FIRESTONE, CA (January 3, 2024) – Sergio Bernal Rubio was killed in a fiery two-vehicle accident in the unincorporated Florence-Firestone area of Los Angeles on December 25.
 
The fatal accident happened around 10:41 p.m. at 82nd Street and Compton Avenue. According to the California Highway Patrol, two vehicles collided for unknown reasons. The impact caused at least one of them to catch fire.
 
Los Angeles County firefighters immediately responded and pronounced one person dead at the scene.
 
Paramedics took three other people to Los Angeles General Medical Center with critical injuries.
 
The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner’s Office identified Rubio as the fatal victim. He was 34 years old.
 
The cause of the crash and factors involved remain under investigation.
