SANTA MARIA, CA (August 17, 2022) – A semi-truck caught fire following a crash on Highway 101 on August 16.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision occurred near Main Street around 4:24 AM.
 
Based on reports, the truck carrying crates of oranges collided with a sedan in the lanes. Subsequently, the crash led to a ruptured fuel tank, resulting to fire.
 
Consequently, emergency crews reported injuries sustained in the incident. In addition, Caltrans closed the northbound highway lanes from Main Street in Templeton to Highway 46 West in San Luis Obispo County while crews performed rescue and clearing operations in the area.
