UCPD Lieutenant Bradley Prows Arrested in Hit-and-Run DUI Accident on Highway 246 near 4th Place

 
SOLVANG, CA (August 17, 2022) — Authorities arrested UCPD Lieutenant Bradley Prows after a hit-and-run crash on Sunday, August 7.
 
According to California Highway Patrol, 60-year-old Prows drove westbound on Highway 246 at the intersection of 4th Place. He was directly behind a driver in a 2016 Honda Odyssey. The driver of the Odyssey had slowed to a stop to pull into a parking stall. Meanwhile, Prows tried to pass the vehicle on the left.
 
Instead of passing the vehicle, Prows collided with the left side of the Odyssey. Then he continued driving westbound on the highway. The Odyssey followed Prows and tried to flag him down. Prows subsequently pulled to the right shoulder and came to a stop about one mile away from the crash site.
 
Officers evaluated Prows and determined he drove under the influence of alcohol.
 
UC Santa Barbara confirmed that they had placed Prows on administrative leave after the incident. Additionally, the department and university are cooperating with the CHP.
 
The crash is still under investigation.
