School Bus Damaged in Fall River Mills Semi-Truck Collision on Highway 299

 
FALL RIVER MILLS, CA (October 21, 2022) — A semi-truck crashed into a school bus on Highway 299 in Fall River Mills on Tuesday, October 18.
 
According to the Fall River Joint School District Superintendent Dr. Merrill Grant, students from Fall River Elementary School traveled back from their annual field trip east of McArthur. Reports said the school bus driver made a left-hand turn off Highway 299. Then a semi-truck hit the rear of the bus.
 
The semi-truck driver was able to step on the brakes in time to avoid any serious injuries. Yet, it still slammed into the rear end of the bus.
 
According to Grant, there were no students who sustain serious injuries to students. However, the bus had major damage.
 
Grant said medics brought seven students to Mayers Memorial Hospital for cautionary observation.
 
Parents rushed to the scene to pick up their children. Those who were not picked up at the time of the incident were brought back to Fall River Elementary. Then all field trips to that location were canceled, Dr. Grant said.
 
Two teachers and three paraprofessionals were also on the bus.
