Pedestrian Killed, Driver Injured in Bakersfield Two-Vehicle Crash on District Boulevard and Ashe Road

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (October 21, 2022) — A pedestrian died in a two-vehicle accident on District Boulevard on Wednesday, October 19.
 
According to the Bakersfield Police Department, at about 9:38 a.m., officers rushed District Boulevard and Ashe Road after receiving calls about the crash.
 
Upon investigation, officers determined that a driver ran a solid red light on northbound Ashe Road. Then it broadsided a second driver. The first car then spun out of control and hit a pedestrian on the northeast corner.
 
Police said the pedestrian had major injuries and died at the scene. Kern County Coroner’s Office has not yet released the victim’s identity pending notification of loved ones.
 
The at-fault driver sustained moderate injuries. Medics rushed the driver to a nearby medical center.
 
Authorities do not believe speed and intoxication played a role in the incident.
 
The Major Collision Incident Team took over the investigation.
