Ruben Lizarraga Killed in Pedestrian Crash on Highway 101 near 680 Freeway

 
SAN JOSE, CA (February 12, 2021) — Ruben Lizarraga was killed last Friday in a pedestrian accident on Highway 101 near the 680 Freeway.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, 62-year-old Ruben Osomio Lizarraga died at the scene just after the 11:00 p.m. accident.
 
For unknown reasons, Lizarraga tried running across the highway lanes. However, a vehicle traveling on the southbound highway struck him.
 
During the investigation, CHP officers confirmed that alcohol did not contribute to the crash. Although, an investigation into the cause and circumstances remains.
 
Following the accident, crews closed several lanes of the highway for nearly two hours before traffic normalized.
 
Because this incident lacks much information, witnesses with information should contact the CHP.
