Darleen Gonzalez Dies in Moreno Valley Pedestrian Accident
MORENO VALLEY, CA (February 22, 2021) — One person died in a pedestrian accident on the 60 Freeway near Frederick Street Thursday morning.
24-year-old Riverside resident Darleen Gonzalez was struck at 4:30 a.m. on the eastbound side of the freeway, about a quarter-mile west of Frederick Street, according to the Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner’s Bureau. Gonzalez died at the scene.
Emergency crews responded. Soon after, police shut down four freeway lanes for nearly two hours.
As drivers navigated around the four-lane closure, investigators searched the scene for evidence. About 6:25 a.m., Caltrans reopened the lanes to commuters.
