Coroner Identifies Ruben Contreras Jr. as Rider on Stolen Motorcycle Killed in West Hills Crash

 
WEST HILLS, CA (January 24, 2022) – Ruben Contreras Jr. died in a high-speed motorcycle accident on Roscoe Boulevard in West Hills Thursday afternoon.
 
The fatal crash happened around 1:00 p.m. on January 20 at Fallbrook Avenue. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, Contreras was fleeing police on the reportedly stolen motorcycle at 115 mph. An LAPD helicopter began tracking the two-wheeler after spotting it.
 
Minutes later, Contreras slammed head-on into a maroon sedan driving the opposite way. The force of the impact propelled him in the air around 100 feet from the scene. He then landed on a sidewalk.
 
Contreras, a 30-year-old man, sustained blunt force injuries. He died at the scene, according to the Los Angeles Coroner’s Office.
 
Meanwhile, paramedics treated two people in the car with unspecified injuries.
 
It is unknown if drugs or alcohol was a factor. Police are still investigating the fatal crash.
