Robert Rivas Dies after Crash with Another Vehicle at Union and California Avenues

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (June 7, 2022) – Robert Joseph Rivas died in a two-vehicle accident in Bakersfield on Friday morning, June 3.
 
The fatal accident happened around 4:53 a.m. at Union Avenye and California Avenue. According to the Bakersfield Police Department, a sedan and a pickup truck collided at the intersection for unknown reasons.
 
Rivas, a 47-year-old Porterville resident, was the driver of the pickup truck. He succumbed to his injuries at the hospital, according to the Kern County Coroner’s Office.
 
Meanwhile, the other driver suffered moderate injuries.
 
At this time, it is unclear whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
 
The crash is still under investigation. Police asked anyone with further information to call them at 661-327-7111.
