Plane Crashes at Orovile Municipal Airport, Two Flight Instructors Kurt Dunning and Ronald McHale Killed
OROVILLE, CA (June 7, 2022) – Ronald McHale and Kurt Dunning died in a plane crash at Oroville Municipal Airport on Friday, June 3.
The plane crashed near the end of the south runway near the Airport’s perimeter fencing. Right next to the fencing is Larkin Road, which has been busy all day long. There are also several homes a couple hundred yards east of the airport with many families living in them.
Federal investigators said the two men were flight instructors. They were taking off when they crashed into the runway.
Both 75-year-old Oroville resident McHale and 66-year-old Chico resident Dunning died in the crash, according to the Butte County Sheriff’s Office.
The National Transportation Safety Board and Federal Aviation Administration are the federal investigators looking into the crash.
