Pilot Dies after Small Plane Crash in Corona Neighborhood

 
CORONA, CA (December 17, 2023) – A pilot died in a single-engine plane accident near Auburndale Street and Rincon Street, Saturday afternoon.
 
According to the Corona Fire Department, the incident happened on December 16, just after noon. For reasons still under investigation, the aircraft crashed shortly after takeoff from Corona Municipal Airport.
 
As per reports, the accident caused a vegetation fire near Palos Verde Drive that was quickly extinguished.
 
The Corona Police Department later arrived to assist the fire department.
 
Emergency crews pronounced the pilot dead at the scene. Authorities withheld the identity of the victim, pending notification of next of kin.
 
Both the Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the crash. Officers will release additional information once it becomes availalble
