70-Year-Old Penelope Fetsch Sustained Injuries in Pedestrian Crash on Colusa Avenue and Solano Avenue

 
BERKELEY, CA (August 22, 2022) — A 70-year-old woman identified as Penelope Fetsch was hurt in a pedestrian crash on Saturday, August 13.
 
According to Berkeley police spokesperson Officer Byron White, Fetsch walked in the crosswalk on Colusa Avenue at 7:15 p.m. Then a driver traveling west on Solano Avenue hit her while turning right onto Colusa.
 
The victim’s partner, Mark Olivier, said Fetsch is El Cerrito’s chiropractor. Additionally, he said she was on the way to pick up food from a nearby taqueria when the incident happened.
 
The police and Olivier said Fetsch sustained pelvis injuries, broken ribs, along with several cuts and abrasions.
 
Fetsch spent 16 hours in the emergency room. In addition, she was in the intensive care unit for four days at Highland Hospital. She has now been out of the ICU and is recovering well, Olivier said.
 
Police said that the driver remained at the scene. They do not suspect drugs and alcohol are not suspected in the crash.
