Hugh Mattingly Dies in Small Airplane Accident in Richvale

 
RICHVALE, CA (May 29, 2024) — Hugh Mattingly died in a small airplane crash near Richvale Airport in Butte County.
 
According to CAL FIRE Butte Unit, the fatal plane accident happened around 1:50 p.m. Tuesday. Under unclear circumstances, a pilot of an agricultural aircraft went down near Richvale Airport west of Richvale. Subsequently, the CAL FIRE Butte Unit responded, finding the aircraft 30 feet from the runway with severe damage.
 
Tragically, the pilot from Chico identified as 63-year-old Mattingly passed away in the incident. The Butte County Coroner identified him.
